One has to proceed about 22 km. on the Matara-Akuressa-Emaladeniya Road to reach Emaladeniya Rajamaha Vihara. It belongs to the Pitabeddara Divisional Secretariat Division.

Walls of the rock cave image house have been adorned with paintings of the Kandyan period style but some of the old walls are dilapidated. Later the wall has been repaired by using the ancient door jambs.

According to folklore this vihara has been constructed by King Saddhatissa.
